Bleech are a three piece grunge band from London, comprising of sisters Jen O’Neill (vocals/guitar/piano) and Katherine O'Neill and Matt Bick (drums). I've blogged about them before so rather than repeat myself, I'll just let you know that hot of the heels of their first album 'Nude', the band are working on their second album 'Humble Sky'. What we have right here is the first single 'Not Like You' which they have put up as a free download. Get your copy below, it's only one click away.

J A W S are an indie rock band from Birmingham who've been making waves recently (see what I did there? Boxxy would have) who took their name not from the legendary Jaws film but from the equally legendary Bond villian. They play around the West Midlands so if you like what you hear below then remember their name, you never know when you might see it on a gig listing. Their new single 'Toucan Surf' is out now. Arp Attack are a three-piece from Southampton. I first saw them at The Marrs Bar where they took to the stage dressed (disarmingly) as crocodiles, costumes retained from their recent music video shoot for Crocodile Tears. This only lasted for one song before they stripped out of them, it was a lot of flesh for just one stage. At one point, Frankie said the band had a new ep and we (the audience) could get copies off her after the show in exchange for a hug. Needless to say, after they finished playing I found her by the bar, said 'Hey, so about this new ep...' and held out my arms for a hug... she said "Yeah, they're £4." I jestured with my arms again but again '£4." Ah well. I also brought a fairly cool looking handmade t-shirt off the drummer which had ARP ATTACK written in big big letters across the chest in gold glitter. Sadly, that all went an unfortunate shade of green after a couple of spins in the washing machine. I know all this doesn't tell you anything about their music, but you can listen to the track below before downloading, plus you can always watch this. I sent this video to the organisers of Blissfields who were putting on a Road to Blissfields gig in Southampton. I told them to book Arp Attack in as a trial run and they obviously delivered on their end as they were then asked to play at the main festival. Horray. Signals. are a band from Southampton/Isle of Wight. In their words: 'We are Signals, a female fronted indie / post math rock four-piece from the South of England. We take collective inspiration from artists such as Bon Iver, Thrice, Local Natives, Manchester Orchestra, As Tall As Lions, and Tubelord, amongst others. From this, we have created an eclectic mix of intricate melodies and ambient guitarscapes, held together with energetic rhythm sections - all entwined with subtle and soaring three-part harmony.' Why not have a little listen and see what you make of it. They have a 5 track EP called 'Square Wheels' for sale for £4 on their BandCamp page. This is a track from Kate Nash that was written and recorded in less than 24 hours. She's put it up as a free download whilst she's on tour. The video can be seen here. It's resulted in a polarized opinion from her fanbase, the official video on YouTube has 1,422 likes and 1,381 dislikes. Many liken it to the music to Riot Grrrl groups such as Bikini Kill and Le Tigre with a big lump of Hole thrown in. Have a listen and see what you make of it all. On her tumblr My Ignorant Youth, Kate has said that she'll leave this up as a free download whilst she's away on her current tour, so if you do like what you hear, get to it. I've already featured Bleech on here, with the previous single 'Mondays', so I don't want to repeat myself too much but they are a great little band and definitely worth checking out. They're currently on tour in support of their new album 'Nude' which is released today! They played at the Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham a few nights ago so there's a local(ish) angle for you there, if you need one. The track up for grabs today is their take on David Bowie's 'Boy's Keep Swinging' from 1979. Out of all the tracks they could have picked, I think it's a pretty cool choice and that they've done it justice. What do you think? Bleech are an exciting three piece from London consisting of sisters Jen and Katherine, as well as drummer Matt. They started out in 2008 (that's when they created their facebook page) and I've got a couple of their singles that they put out in 2009 on Juno records, namely 'Is It True That Boys Don't Cry' and 'The Worthing Song'. Since then, they've put out an ep (Deadhead), been endorsed by Kangol and a full length LP called 'Nude' in 2011. So far this year they've continued to play all over the place, including the mighty Now We Are festival where I was working and managed to film them (only the one song though) and they were a lovely bunch. They're having an album launch at The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on Saturday 2nd July and releasing their new single 'Adrenalin Junkie' was released (into the wild) yesterday (Monday 28th May) and their album is coming out on Monday 4th June, perfectly in time for the Royal Jubilee celebrations. Make sure you get their previous single for free by clicking below. Note: This is a wav file so you'll want to convert it to an mp3 once you've got it. I really know much about Hollowmoon and I can't remember how I found out about them, but I'm glad I did. I do know that they're from Brighton and that they remind me of the Pixies. Have a listen for yourself and see what you make of it, everyone I've played them to really like their music so maybe you will too. I saw ∆ on an facebook event page, they're playing a gig being put on by Birmingham Promoters at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath on the 30th May (so plently of time yet!) and I was intrigued by the name. It turns out you see, that if you press Alt. and J at the same time, it produces the delta symbol...but only on a mac. Anyways, they used to going under the name 'Films' but changed it after another band called Films' biography was copied word for word, they toyed with the name Daljit Dhaliwal but then settled on ∆. They've just finished a tour with Wild Beasts and Ghost Poet and have now just started another one to promote their new album 'An Awesome Wave' which set for release anyday now. In the meantime, they've upload a demo EP to their SoundCloud page which you can get for free by clicking that download button right there. -----------------------------------------------------------> Aaaah those always cherrful chaps Space, they're still going ya know! It's taken me 10 years to realise, but I'm on the the album cover for Music for Aliens on the right hand side in the white shirt with the short hair next to a girl in a black t-shirt. I went to see them a bunch of times back in the day and they were always fantastic live. I heard they reformed for a gig in Liverpool just before Christmas so that holds hope that they might be planning on playing more or even recording. Whilst we continue to wait, here's a bunch of cool songs that they put out to appease us fans who spent our evenings huddled together on their messageboards. Ah, those seemed like much simpler times.

Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
